Felicitations on the 63RD Anniversary of the Moncada Assault.
July 26, 2016
THE INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT
COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA (CPC)
Dear comrades :
The Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP-1930, the Philippine Communist Party) sends warmest felicitations on today's occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the Moncada Assault.
The lessons of the Moncada Assault remain relevant, even for us in the Philippines, because that early “rehearsal” of the Cuban revolution shows that victory can eventually be won despite initial defeat. The Moncada Assault has shown that the eventual attainment of victory can be ensured, so long as the revolutionary movement remains undaunted by any setback, and shows perseverance and steadfastness among its subjective qualities.
Perseverance and steadfastness are the qualities that the Cuban revolution has always displayed. Despite great odds, the Cuban revolution triumphed because the Cuban people detested the neocolonial system and persevered to overthrow the Batista dictatorship which represented and symbolized that system. And despite grave losses and hardships caused by US-sponsored terrorism and the criminal blockade, the Cuban revolution remains steadfast in defense of socialism.
In fact, Cuba's continuing example in defense of socialism serves as the beacon for mankind's struggle against imperialism and for social liberation. We are therefore confident that the Cuban revolution will continue its inalterable course towards the enhancement of socialism as a sustainable and prosperous model, even in the face of the continued criminal blockade by US imperialism.
Cuba’s firm position in defense of socialism is a great encouragement to all progressive peoples in our country and throughout the world. On this occasion therefore, the PKP-1930 sends warmest felicitations to the Communist Party of Cuba, to the government of the Republic of Cuba, and to the revolutionary people of Cuba, as you celebrate the 63RD Anniversary of the Moncada Assault.
We also take this opportunity to pledge greater efforts in our country to contribute to the worldwide campaign for an end to the US embargo against Cuba ; for an end to the USA's illegal radio and television broadcasts which violate Cuban sovereignty ; and for the return to Cuba of the territory that is illegally occupied by the US naval base in Guantanamo.
With communist greetings,
ANTONIO E. PARIS
General Secretary, PKP-1930
